SMS Policy

Last updated: March 15, 2026

Notriv uses SMS messaging as part of our document intake workflow to deliver one-time links to clients on behalf of attorneys and legal staff. This policy explains how phone numbers are collected, how consent is obtained, what messages are sent, and how recipients can opt out.

How Phone Numbers Are Collected

Phone numbers are entered into the Notriv platform by authorized attorneys, paralegals, or legal staff members on behalf of their clients. Clients do not enter their own phone numbers into the system. The submitting staff member is responsible for providing accurate contact information for their client.

Consent

Before submitting a client's phone number through the Notriv platform, the attorney or staff member must first obtain verbal consent from the client to receive an SMS message. The platform requires the submitting user to confirm that verbal consent has been obtained before the message is sent. No SMS message will be delivered without this confirmation step.

Verbal Consent Script

Before sending any SMS, the attorney or staff member says to the client:

“We need you to complete some documents electronically. We can text you a secure link to access and sign them. The message will come from a toll-free number. You can opt out at any time by replying STOP to the text. Can I send that link to your mobile number?”

The client verbally confirms. The staff member then enters the phone number into the Notriv platform and sends the notification.

Consent is recorded in the system log with the staff member's identity, recipient phone number, timestamp, and associated document workflow. Opt-out is handled automatically. Replying STOP to any message will immediately unsubscribe the recipient.

What the SMS Contains

Each SMS message sent by Notriv contains:

  • A one-time, secure link to a document intake form specific to the recipient
  • A brief description identifying the message as coming from Notriv on behalf of the recipient's attorney or legal representative

Notriv sends only one SMS per intake request. We do not send marketing messages, recurring texts, or promotional content via SMS.

Message Frequency

Recipients will receive a single SMS message per document intake request. Message frequency depends on how often your legal representative initiates intake requests on your behalf. Message and data rates may apply.

Opting In

Before an SMS message is sent, the authorized staff member must confirm consent through the Notriv platform by checking the opt-in checkbox shown below.

Opting Out

You can opt out of receiving SMS messages from Notriv at any time by replying STOP to any message you receive from us. Once you opt out, you will not receive any further SMS messages unless a new consent is provided through your legal representative.
